Autumn in New England Soup

Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 large onion, chopped
6 cups water
1 1/2 cups carrots, cut-up
1 cup celery, diced
1 1/2 cups potatoes, cubed
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon browning sauce
1 dash worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 bay leaf
1/8 teaspoon dried basil
1 dash tabasco sauce (optional)
1 (28 ounce) can whole tomatoes with juice
Directions:
1. In a large saucepan brown ground beef. Drain fat off.
2. Add onions to beef and continue cooking until onions are tender, about 5 minutes.
3. Stir in remaining ingredients; heat to boiling.
4. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 30 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
