3 cups halved brussels sprouts |
1 tablespoon butter or 1 tablespoon margarine |
1 cup chopped peeled apple |
1/2 cup chopped onion |
1/2 cup chopped cooked chestnuts |
1/2 cup vegetable broth |
salt, to taste |
pepper, to taste |
Directions:
1. Cook the Brussels sprouts in boiling water to desired doneness; drain. 2. In a big skillet, melt the butter over med-high heat. 3. Add in apples and onions; cook, stirring until softened, about 4 minutes. 4. Add in Brussels sprouts, chestnuts, broth, salt, and pepper; cook, stirring, until most of the broth has evaporated, about 3 minutes. 5. Variation-may use apple juice instead of vegetable broth. |
