Auntie Sharon's Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies |

These were by far the favorite cookie in our house growing up. Although the recipe calls for shortening, we often substituted margarine instead. Always tripled the recipe as well, they just go that fast. Ingredients:
1/2 cup shortening |
1/2 cup brown sugar |
1/2 cup white sugar |
1 beaten egg |
2 tablespoons water |
1/2 teaspoon vanilla |
3/4 cup flour |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 1/2 cups oatmeal |
1 1/4 cups chocolate chips |
Directions:
1. Combine shortening, sugars until smooth. 2. Add egg and water, mix well. 3. Add all dry ingredients, except oatmeal and chocolate chips. MIx well. 4. Add oatmeal, and mix. 5. Add chocolate chips and mix until evenly distributed. 6. Drop onto greased cookie sheet. 7. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-15 minutes. |
