This is my great aunt Eloise's recipe she gave my mom. Delish....It's a fix-it and forget-about it recipes. Ingredients:
2 1/2 lb stew meat |
1 tbsp sugar |
3 tbsp tapioca |
1 1/2 tsp salt |
1 slice bread( broken up into pieces) |
1 cup celery, chopped |
6 carrots, peeled and chunked |
3-4 large potatoes, peeled and chunked |
1 onion, chopped |
1 (28 oz)can whole tomatoes, chopped |
1 quart water |
Directions:
1. Mix all ingredients into a large roaster pan. 2. Cover. Bake in pre-heated 250 degree oven for 5 hours. 3. Note: Easy tip for chopping can tomatoes-leave tomatoes in can, take a sharp knife and cut through tomatoes while in can. Saves you from putting them on a cutting board or squeezing them by hand. |
