Aunt Gin got it from her sister-in-law in West Virginia. It is a very good keeper so it is good to ship to someone far away. Granny Smith apples diced fine are the best apples to use. Ingredients:
4 cups diced apples |
3 cups sifted flour |
2 teaspoons baking soda |
1 teaspoon salt |
2 teaspoons cinnamon |
2 cups sugar |
1 cup salad oil |
2 whole eggs |
1/2 cup chopped nuts |
1/2 cup plumped raisins |
Directions:
1. Sift dry ingredients together. 2. (flour,baking soda,salt & cinnamon) 3. Mix oil ,sugar & eggs. Add to the dry 4. ingredients. Then add apples and / or. 5. nuts and raisins if desired. 6. place into a well greased or sprayed 7. tube pan - this is a stiff batter. 8. bake 60 -70 minutes in a 325 degree. 9. oven. Cool and remove from pan - 10. yes this is a heavy cake - but so tasty. 11. and a long keeper 12. if kept in an airtight container. |
