My version of the traditional Chex party mix. This is a favorite among my nieces and nephews.
Ingredients:
4 cups rice chex, divided into 2 pans
4 cups corn chex, divided into 2 pans
4 cups wheat chex, divided into 2 pans
4 cups small classic shaped pretzels, divided into 2 pans
2 cups cheez-it crackers, divided into 2 pans
2 cups cheerios toasted oat cereal, divided into 2 pans
2 cups peanuts, divided into 2 pans
12 tablespoons margarine, melted
6 tablespoons butter, melted
6 tablespoons lea & perrins worcestershire sauce
6 teaspoons lawry's seasoned salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.
2. Using two 9 x 13-inch pans, divide up the Rice Chex cereal, Corn Chex cereal, Wheat Chex cereal, pretzels, Cheez-It crackers, Cheerios, and peanuts between the two pans.
3. Toss the ingredients in each pan to mix well.
4. In a small saucepan, melt the margarine and butter.
5. Add the Worcestershire sauce, season salt, and garlic powder.
6. Stir until homogeneous in appearance.
7. Spoon some of the sauce between the two pans.
8. Toss the cereal to coat evenly.
9. Always restir your sauce before spooning over the cereal as it will begin to separate.
10. Repeat the spooning/tossing process until all of the sauce has been evenly distributed over the cereal mixture in both pans.
11. Bake the cereal mixture for 1 hour, tossing the mixture every 10 to 15 minutes.
12. Before removing the pans from the oven, make sure you don't have any'wet' cereal remaining.
13. If this is the case, continue baking for several minutes until the cereal mixture is completely dried.
14. Cool.
15. Store in a sealed container or in gallon freezer bags.
