I got this recipe from my aunts family who came from Sweden. The drink was a staple during the cold winter months. It makes a great party punch during the winter holidays. Just make sure you take your party guest's keys. It is a strong drink, but quite tasty and will warm you up quickly. Ingredients:
1 gallon muscatel wine |
1 cup pitted prunes |
1 cup raisins (dark or light) |
2 cinnamon sticks |
10 -15 whole cloves |
2 oranges, dried peels from |
1/2 cup almonds, sliced thin |
2 dozen cardamom seeds |
10 ounces vodka |
Directions:
1. Put all ingredients (except vodka) into large stainless steel or non reactive pot. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 1 (one) hour, stir gently. Remove cloves, cinnamon, orange peel and cardamon seeds. Add vodka and stir. 2. Serve slightly warm, if your guest like raisin and/or prunes add a few to each serving. This punch can be reheated. |
