Ingredients:
1 pound fresh asparagus, cleaned |
2 tablespoons butter |
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour |
1 cup milk |
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded sharp cheddar cheese |
1/4 teaspoon grated lemon rind |
2 cups chopped cooked chicken |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/4 teaspoon white pepper |
Directions:
1. Cook asparagus; drain. Transfer to a serving platter; keep warm. 2. Melt butter in a saucepan; add flour, stirring until smooth. Gradually add milk; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is thickened. Add cheese; stir until cheese melts. Add lemon rind, chicken, salt, and pepper; mix well. Spoon sauce over asparagus. |
