We are amazed at how many Moms tell us their families like to venture out and taste kid-friendly versions of new ethnic recipes like this one and the ones to follow. These Asian burgers do sport a little heat thanks to the chile paste and ginger. Cool, crisp lettuce leaves provide a good balance. Ingredients:
1 pound skinned and boned chicken breasts, coarsely chopped |
4 green onions, chopped |
1 tablespoon chile paste with garlic |
1 teaspoon grated peeled fresh ginger |
2 teaspoons soy sauce |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
4 (2-oz.) sandwich rolls with sesame seeds |
4 lettuce leaves, thinly sliced |
bottled peanut sauce (optional) |
Directions:
1. Preheat grill to medium (300° to 350°). Combine chicken, green onions, chile paste, ginger, soy sauce, and salt in a food processor; process until coarsely ground. Divide mixture into 4 equal portions; shape each portion into a 1/2-inch-thick patty. 2. Grill patties over medium heat 4 minutes on each side or until done. Meanwhile, place sandwich rolls, cut sides down, on grill rack; grill 1 minute or until toasted. Serve patties on sandwich rolls with lettuce and peanut sauce, if desired. 3.
