With Asian-style ingredients such as hot chili sauce, sesame oil, soy sauce, and ginger, this sweet-hot sauce is a cut above a bottled barbecue sauce. Ingredients:
2 teaspoons sesame oil |
1/2 onion, finely chopped (about 3/4 cup) |
1/2 cup cider vinegar |
1 cup ketchup |
3/4 cup lightly packed light brown sugar |
1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce |
2 tablespoons hot chili sauce with garlic (such as a taste of thai) |
2 tablespoons dry sherry |
1 teaspoon ground ginger |
Directions:
1. Heat sesame oil in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onion; cook 2 minutes or until tender. Add vinegar and remaining ingredients; combine with a whisk. Bring to a boil; reduce heat, and simmer 7 minutes. |
