Asiago Cheese And Onion Bread |

This is about the fastest way to enjoy an Asiago bread without going to Panera. Recipe and photo from Fall Baking Ingredients:
2 tbl butter |
1 lrg sweet onion, cut in half, thinly sliced (about 2 cups) |
1 tbl packed brown sugar |
1 tsp dried thyme leaves |
1 can refrigerated classic pizza crust |
1 c shredded asiago cheese (4 oz) |
1 egg white, beaten |
1/2 tsp poppy seeds |
Directions:
1. 425 oven Spray a large cookie sheet with cooking spray 2. In a 10 inch skillet, melt butter over medium heat; add onion and cook about 15 minutes, stirring constantly, until golden 3. Stir in brown sugar and thyme 4. Cook 1 to 2 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sugar is dissolved 5. Remove from heat 6. Unroll pizza dough onto cookie sheet and press out to a 15x10 rectangle 7. Sprinkle cheese down the center third of the dough 8. Spoon onion mixture evenly over cheese 9. With scissors or a sharp knife make cuts 1 inch apart on both long sides of dough to within 1/2 inch of filling 10. Alternately cross strips diagonally over filling; turn ends under and press to seal 11. Brush with egg white 12. Sprinkle with poppy seeds 13. Bake 11 to 15 minutes or until crust is golden 14. Let stand 15 minutes before serving 15. Remove from cookie sheet; cut crosswise into slices 16. Mozzarella or Fontina can be used for a change of pace |
