these are a great start to the dat Ingredients:
4 slices egg bread |
3 eggs |
dash of cinnamon |
dash of nutmeg |
1 tablespoon custard powder |
3/4 cup milk |
filling |
3 tablespoons cream cheese |
1 tablespoon apricot jam |
1 teaspoon chopped or slivered almonds |
1 drop almond extract |
topping |
powdered sugar and sliced almonds for topping (optional) |
apricot syrup |
Directions:
1. Directions: Whisk eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg, custard powder and milk together with wire whip. Stir cream cheese, jam, almond extract and almonds for stuffing. Set aside. 2. Dip bread slices into whisked eggs. Fry on griddle until golden brown. Prepare like a sandwich, placing the filling ingredients between 2 slices of bread. Keep in warm oven until ready to serve. 3. Optional: Sift a light sprinkle of powdered sugar over French toast and top with a few sliced almonds. Garnish with fruit, mint and a pansy. Serve with warm apricot syrup |
