Adopted from zaar Feb 2005. All comments below are from the original chef. I will update when I have prepared this recipe myself. Leah Ingredients:
4 cups applesauce |
1 tablespoon lemon juice |
4 egg yolks |
4 egg whites |
8 tablespoons sugar |
1/2 teaspoon vanilla |
Directions:
1. Grated rind of 1 Lemon. 2. Preheat oven to 300 deg F. 3. Combine applesauce, lemon juice and rind. 4. Beat in egg yolks and pour into baking dish. 5. In separate bowl, beat egg whites until peaks form. 6. Gradually add sugar while continuing to beat. 7. Add vanilla. 8. Mix approximately 1/4 of meringue thru applesauce and spoon remaining meringue on top. 9. Bake 15 minutes. 10. Good hot or cold. |
