You can bake or deep fry these. I always double this recipe. Ingredients:
3 oz. cream cheese |
1/2 cup butter |
1 cup all-purpose flour |
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon (optional) |
1 cup good quality thick applesauce - i make my own and add cinnamon to it. |
Directions:
1. Cream butter and cream cheese till fluffy. 2. Add flour and cinnamon and mix until a smooth ball can be formed. 3. Wrap in Saran wrap and refrigerate for at least 6-8 hours or overnight. 4. Remove from refrigerator half hour before using rolling out. 5. Roll dough on floured counter or board to 1/8 inch thickness. 6. Cut into 3 inch rounds. 7. Place 1 tablespoon of applesauce on each round then fold over and pinch press to seal tightly. 8. Bake at 375 degrees F for 15 to 20 minutes or deep fry until light golden in color. 9. Serve warm with a sprinkle of confectioners' sugar and cinnamon mixed together. Vanilla ice cream is also good with these. |
