This is from Moberly, Missouri's Bicentennial Cook Book compiled in 1976. The recipe was submitted by Mrs. John Moore and Mrs. Vera Meals. Ingredients:
1/2 cup shortening |
1 cup sugar |
1 egg |
2 cups flour |
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon |
1/4 teaspoon clove (ground) |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1 cup grated apple |
1/2 cup raisins |
1/2 cup chopped nutmeats |
Directions:
1. Cream shortening and sugar together. Add egg and beat well. 2. Sift together remaining dry ingredients. Add to creamed mixture alternately with apples, raisins and nutmeats. Stir after each addition until all the dry ingredients are mixed well. 3. Drop from spoon on to a greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. 4. Unfortunately, the oven temp and baking time are not provided. Try 325 degree oven for 12-15 minutes. Cool on wire rack, and it might be a good idea to store in the fridge (if there are any leftovers)! |
