My husband's family favorite. These are GREAT, you'll thank yourself for trying them. The chocolate is a nice surprise when you're expecting raisins! Yield and cook times are approximate. Don't over bake, this is a soft, cake-like cookie. Enjoy! Ingredients:
2 cups flour |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
1 teaspoon nutmeg |
1 teaspoon clove |
1 teaspoon allspice |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 cup shortening |
1 cup packed brown sugar (you can use white or 1/2 and 1/2) |
1 egg |
1/2 cup milk chocolate chips (semi-sweet works too!) |
1 cup applesauce |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. 2. Cream shortening, eggs and sugar first. 3. Add all other ingredients. 4. Drop by spoonfuls (I use a small scoop) onto greased cookie sheets. 5. Bake 8-15 minutes. |
