from Mom's notebooks Ingredients:
1/4 lb butter |
1 cup sugar |
2 eggs |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
2 cups flour |
1 cup applesauce |
1 cup chopped dates |
1 cup chopped nuts, your choice |
1/4 cup chopped candied citron peel |
Directions:
1. Cream butter and sugar with hand mixer or stand mixer. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. 2. Stir baking soda into applesauce. Add to butter-sugar-egg mixture. 3. Toss dates, nuts and citron with flour until coated. Stir in wet mixture. Pour into greased loaf pan. 4. Bake at 350F for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. |
