My family loves granola, so I've been experimenting with my recipe to create new variations. This tasty granola gets its sweet flavor from dried apples and apple juice concentrate.
Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups old fashioned oatmeal
1/2 cup oat bran
1/2 cup sliced almonds
1/3 cup honey
1/3 cup oil
1/3 cup apple juice concentrate
1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 cup crisp rice cereal
1/2 cup toasted wheat germ
1/2 cup chopped dried apples
1/2 cup raisins
Directions:
1. In a large bowl. combine oats, oat bran, and almonds.
2. Spread onto a greased, foil-lined 15 x10 x1 baking pan.
3. Coat mixture with cooking spray.
4. Bake, uncovered, at 300 degrees for 20 minutes, stirring once.
5. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, combine honey, oil, and concentrate.
6. Cook and stir over low heat until mixture is heated through.
7. Remove from heat and stir in cinnamon and nutmeg.
8. Stir cereal, wheat germ, and apples into oat mixture.
9. Drizzle with honey mixture; stir to coat.
10. Bake 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
11. Stir in raisins.
12. Cool on wire rack.
13. Break granola into pieces.
14. Store in an airtight container.
