APPLES AND SQUASH IN THE CROCK POT This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Langley Estate in Little Elm, Texas in 1981. Ingredients:
5 pounds butternut squash |
4 baking apples |
1/2 cup butter melted |
1 cup light brown sugar packed |
2 tablespoons flour |
2 teaspoons salt |
1 teaspoon mace |
Directions:
1. Cut squash in half then remove seeds and fibers and par and cut in 1/2 slices. 2. Pare and core apples and cut into 1/2” slices. 3. Combine melted butter, sugar, flour, salt and mace. 4. Layer one half of the squash in the bottom of the removable liner and top with one half the apple slices and one half the sugar mixture. 5. Repeat layers then place in base. 6. Cover and cook on low for 7 hours. |
