The original of this recipe was found in the 2009 Fix-It and Forget-It: Our Best Slow-Cooker Recipes. Although tweaked slightly, the combo of apple & bean makes for a tasty dish! Ingredients:
1/4 cup unsalted butter |
2 large pippin apples, cubed |
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed |
1/4 cup granulated sugar |
2/3 cup ketchup |
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
2 tablespoons molasses |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
2 (24 ounce) cans great northern beans, undrained |
Directions:
1. In a large skillet, melt the butter, then add the apples & cook until tender, about 5 to 8 minutes. 2. Stir in the 2 sugars & cook until sugar has melted, about 3 minutes, then stir in the ketchup, cinnamon, molasses & salt. 3. Add the beans & mix well, then pour the bean mixture into a slow cooker. 4. Cover & cook on HIGH for 2 to 4 hours. |
