This is Mom's recipe for an easy apple cobbler full of walnuts. I like to serve it warm with vanilla ice cream. Ingredients:
1/2 cup sugar |
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon |
3/4 cup chopped walnuts - divided |
4 cups apples; peeled sliced 1/8 thick |
1 cup flour |
1 cup sugar |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1 egg; beaten |
1/2 cup evaporated milk |
1/3 cup butter; melted |
Directions:
1. Mix 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon and 1/2 cup walnuts, set aside. 2. Place apples in bottom of greased 8 inch square pan. 3. Sprinkle with cinnamon mixture. 4. Sift together dry ingredients, set aside. 5. Combine egg, milk and butter and add dry ingredients all at once and mix until smooth. 6. Pour batter over apples. 7. Sprinkle with remaining walnuts. 8. Bake at 325 degrees for about 50 minutes. 9. NOTES : Can also be made with peaches instead of apples. |
