4 cups sliced apples |
1 1/2 cups sugar, divided |
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
1/2 cup coarsely chopped walnuts |
1 cup all-purpose flour |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1 egg, beaten |
1/2 cup half-and-half |
1/3 cup melted butter or 1/3 cup margarine |
1/4 cup finely chopped walnuts |
Directions:
1. Place apples in a greased 9-inch square baking pan; spread them out evenly. 2. In a bowl, add 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon, and coarsely chopped walnuts; stir to combine. 3. Sprinkle mixture over apples. 4. In another bowl, add the flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt; stir to combine and set aside. 5. Mix together the egg, half-and-half, and butter in a bowl; add to flour mixture; beat until smooth. 6. Pour over apples. 7. Sprinkle with finely chopped walnuts. 8. Bake at 325° for 1 hour or until pick comes out clean. |
