Ingredients:
3 grany smith apples peeled, cored, thinly sliced |
2 cup(s) flour |
4 teaspoon(s) cinnamon |
2 teaspoon(s) allspice |
1 teaspoon(s) cloves |
1 teaspoon(s) nutmeg |
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt |
1 cup(s) butter softened |
1 cup(s) sugar |
1 cup(s) brown sugar |
4 eggs |
1 teaspoon(s) baking soda |
1 teaspoon(s) vanilla |
1 cup(s) confectioners sugar |
2 tablespoon(s) butter |
1/4 teaspoon(s) vanilla |
2 teaspoon(s) cinnamon |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 2. Grease and flour a 10 bunt pan. 3. Peel, core and slice 3 granny smith apples. Cook on stove top with 1/4 cup water and sugar and cinnamon to flavor (if desired). Cook about 10 minutes till apples are tender. Be careful to not over cook and allow the apples to become soft and lose structure. Drain and finely chop. Set aside. 4. Whisk flour, spices, salt and baking soda together. Set aside. I recommend adjusting spice amounts to your personal preferences. 5. In a large mixing bowl blend butter and sugars. Add eggs one at a time followed by vanilla. Add apples and flour mixture. When well blended pour batter into pan and cook 1 hour or until tooth pick comes out clean. 6. Allow to cool completely before adding glaze. 7. Cinnamon Glaze 8. Melt butter over medium low heat, remove and stir in vanilla and confectioners sugar. Add 1/4 tsp warm water at a time to thin glaze to correct viscosity. 9. Drizzle over cake. |
