Apple Pie With Crumb Topping |

My eldest daughter brought one of these to a Thanksgiving Dinner. They asked for it, so here it is. Ingredients:
1 unbaked deep dish pie shell |
2 lbs apples |
1/2 cup sugar |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg |
2 tablespoons cornstarch |
1/2 cup brown sugar |
1 cup flour |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
1/2 cup butter |
Directions:
1. Filling:. 2. Peel, core & slice apples. 3. Stir sugar, spices & cornstarch together. 4. Toss apple slices in sugar mixture. 5. Arrange apple slices in pie shell. 6. Pour any remaining sugar mixture over apples. 7. Topping:. 8. Mix sugar, cinnamon & flour. 9. Cut in butter. (It should be lumpy.). 10. Sprinkle over apples. 11. Bake 400 degrees for 40 minutes. |
