Ingredients:
18 cup(s) apples (spartan) thinly sliced |
3 tablespoon(s) lemon juice |
1 cup(s) brown sugar |
1 cup(s) white sugar |
1 cup(s) cornstarch |
1 tablespoon(s) cinnamon |
1/2 teaspoon(s) nutmeg |
1 teaspoon(s) salt |
8 cup(s) water |
Directions:
1. Combine apples and lemon juice. 2. Stir together remaining ingredients in a large dutch oven. Bring to boil, simmer 2 minutes. Add apples, bring to boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer 6 to 8 minutes. Cool 30 minutes. Turn into freezer containers, cool up to another 1 1/2 hours, then freeze. 3. Makes enough for four pies. |
