this is an adopted recipe. I will post an intro after I make it.
Ingredients:
1 large egg yolk, slightly beat
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, ground
1 graham cracker crust
5 1/2 cups cooking apples, peeled, sliced
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter, room temperature
1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
2. Brush bottom and sides of crust, evenly, with egg yolk; place on baking sheet and bake until light brown, about 5 minutes.
3. Remove crust from oven.
4. Combine sliced apples, lemon juice, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 3 tablespoons flour, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg.
5. Mix well and spoon into crust.
6. Mix remaining flour, sugar, brown sugar and butter with fork or pastry blender until crumbly.
7. Sprinkle topping mixture, evenly, over apples.
8. Bake on baking sheet, about 50 minutes.
9. Cool on wire rack.
10. Serve at room temperature.
