I found this recipe in the same paper as the Pineapple Glazed Pork Tenderloins. It was a really good recipe section that week. Enjoy! - Just a note: Pears can be used instead of apples here! Ingredients:
2 tart apples, peeled, cored and sliced 1/4 inch thick |
1 tablespoon brown sugar |
1 tablespoon butter, softened |
1 recipe biscuit dough or 1 loaf yeast dough |
1/2 cup brown sugar |
4 tablespoons butter |
1/2 cup chopped pecans |
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
4 tablespoons butter |
1/2 cup brown sugar |
1/2 cup milk or cream |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
2 tablespoons honey |
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. 2. Grease a 9-inch square baking pan. 3. Prepare the apples, toss with one tablespoon brown sugar and 1 tablespoon butter. 4. Roast in the prepared pan, covered loosely with foil, for 15 minutes or until tender. 5. Lower oven heat to 350 degrees. 6. Prepare recipe using 2 cups of flour for biscuit or yeast dough (part whole-wheat if desired), or use thawed prepared dough. 7. Roil out on a lightly floured surface to make a 9-inch square. 8. Mix the 1/2 cup brown sugar withpecans and cinnamon. 9. Chop in 4 tablespoons of butter. 10. Sprinke the mixture on top of the dough. 11. Cover evenly with roasted apples. 12. Roll up, jelly roll style, and cut crosswise into 9 slices. 13. Arrange and bake in prepared pan until golden, 35 - 40 minutes. 14. Transfer to a rack to cool. 15. Prepare the glaze by bringing to a boil the remaining 5 ingredients in a small saucepan. 16. Whisk over the heat for about 2 minutes, to thicken a bit. 17. Let cool slightly. 18. Drizzle sauce over the warm buns that have been transferred to a serving plate. |
