From our local newspaper. A delicious oven french toast that you make ahead and refrigerate overnight. Just bake it in the morning. Convenient and great for brunch! Ingredients:
4 eggs |
1 c. milk |
1/4 c. sugar |
1/4 tsp. cinnamon |
1 med. apple, peeled and grated |
1/2 tsp. vanilla |
1 french baguette, sliced one inch thick |
1/2 c. pecans, chopped |
2 tbsp. butter, melted |
Directions:
1. THE DAY BEFORE: 2. Mix all ingredients except bread, pecans, and butter in a bowl. 3. Coat bottom of a 13 x 9 glass baking dish with cooking spray or butter. Place bread in a single layer in dish. 4. Pour the egg mixture over the bread. Turn bread to coat other side. Cover and refrigerate overnight. 5. DAY OF: 6. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. 7. Sprinkle chopped pecans over bread and drizzle with melted butter. 8. Bake 20 - 25 min. or until puffy and golden. 9. Serve with maple syrup. |
