Got this recipe off but added pears and nutmeg to the recipe too...it's delicious with the honey sauce but can roll the fritters in powdered sugar if you don't feel like making the sauce. Ingredients:
for the apple fritters |
1 granny smith apple, peeled, cored, and diced |
1 medium ripe pear, peeled and diced |
2 cups all-purpose flour |
1/2 cup granulated sugar |
2 tsp baking powder |
1 tsp salt |
1 tsp ground cinnamon |
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg |
2 tablespoon butter, melted |
3/4 cup milk |
2 large eggs |
oil, for frying |
powdered sugar to dust |
for the honey syrup |
1/3 cup honey |
1/2 cup water |
1 small cinnamon stick |
Directions:
1. In a large bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon. Mix together with a whisk to aerate. 2. Combine melted butter, milk and eggs in a small bowl and beat together. Pour the liquid into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Fold in the diced apples and pears. 3. Heat oil in a large skillet. 4. For the honey syrup: combine honey, water, and cinnamon stick in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil. Simmer on low until slightly reduced, about 5 to 10 minutes. 5. To make the fritters, Drop batter by tablespoonfuls, a few at a time, into hot oil. Fry until golden brown on both sides. Drain on paper towels. . Serve drizzled with honey syrup and powdered sugar. |
