Ingredients:
1/4 cup(s) brown sugar packed |
2 tablespoon(s) cornstarch |
1 cup(s) water |
5 apples peel,core,slice |
1/2 teaspoon(s) ground cinnamon |
1/4 teaspoon(s) ground nutmeg |
1 tablespoon(s) lemon juice |
2 cup(s) flour |
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt |
2/3 cup(s) shortening |
2 egg yolks, beaten |
1/4 cup(s) cold water add to eggs |
1 tablespoon(s) lemon juice |
1/2 cup(s) powdered sugar |
1 tablespoon(s) milk |
1 tablespoon(s) butter |
Directions:
1. Add 1-4 to heavy pot, heat to a boil stiring constantly. Reduce heat, simmer 5 min. stirring occasionaly. Remove from heat & add spices. 2. Pastry 3. Combine flour & salt. Cut in shortening until mixture is crumbly. Combine yolks, water & jucie. Blend into flour. Mixture will form a ball. Devide in half. 4. Roll one ball at a time between two sheets of wax paper to fit a 9x13 dish and up the sides. Spread filling & cover with remaining crust. Crimp upper and lower crusts together to make a seal. 5. Bake 400 for 40 min, or until light brown |
