Another thrifty recipe from Strictly Thrifty Menus. Ingredients:
6 apples, pared and cored |
2 tablespoons water |
1/3 cup sugar |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
1 cup bisquick baking mix |
1 tablespoon sugar |
1 tablespoon butter or 1 tablespoon margarine, melted |
1/4 cup milk |
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 425*. Place apples close together in greased oblong dish, 10x6x1-1/2 inches, or square pan, 9x9x2 . Sprinkle with water, 1/3 cup sugar and the cinnamon. Heat in oven 20 minutes while preparing topping. Stir remaining ingredients to a soft dough. Gently smooth dough into a ball on floured board. Knead 8-10 minutes. Roll dough into a rectangle, 10x6 inches, and place over hot apples. Cut a small crisscross in dough on top of each apple. Bake 20 to 25 minutes. |
