This recipe is from the Woman's Day Encyclopedia of Cookery, circa 1968. These muffins are moist and re heat beautifully. I'm guessing that the recipe makes 18. I haven't made these in awhile but now that I've come across the recipe again. Read more ...I will be. Ingredients:
muffin |
1 1/2 cups of flour |
1/3 c sugar |
2 tsp baking powder |
1/2 tsp salt |
1/2 c dry milk |
1 tsp cinnamon |
1/4 c shortening or butter |
1 egg |
1/2 c water |
1 c finely chopped apple |
topping |
1/3 c brown sugar |
1/3 c chopped walnuts |
Directions:
1. Mix the first five ingredients together with 1/2 tsp cinnamon in bowl 2. Add shortening, egg, 1/2 C water and mix quickly 3. Spoon into muffin pans (use the papers) 4. Mix 1/2 tsp cinnamon, brown sugar and nuts. 5. Sprinkle evenly over muffins 6. Bake at 375 for about 20 mins. |
