Newspaper recipe for a spin on latkes for Chanukah Latkes are just another name for fried pancakes or fritters Ingredients:
2 large tart apples, peeled and cut into 1/2 inch chunks |
1/4 cup brown sugar |
1/4 tsp cinnmaon |
1 1/2 cup flour |
1 tbs sugar |
salt to taste |
1 beaten egg |
1 cup milk |
1 tbs butter melted |
oil to fry |
Directions:
1. Combine apples, brown sugar and cinnamon and set aside 2. Cpmbine dry ingrdients 3. Combine wet ingrdients 4. Combine wet and drys and fold in apple mixture 5. Heat oil in a fry pan 1/4 inch deep to 375 F degrees 6. Drop 1/4 cup of batter into hot oil and flatten with spatula 7. Yield: 12 Latkes 8. Fry lightly brown, turn carefully to fy other side 9. Drain on apper towels 10. Serve sour cream and cinnamon/sugar as a topping |
