This tasty dessert is always well received. The apples and cream cheese go well together. Not as heavy as a cheesecake, but still rich. Ingredients:
2 cups flour |
1/2 cup sugar |
1/4 teasp salt |
1/2 teasp vanilla |
1/2 lb butter, cold and cut into pieces |
1 lb cream cheese |
3/4 cup sugar |
1 teasp vanilla |
1 egg, room temp |
11/2 teasp cinnamon |
3 granny smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced thin |
Directions:
1. For Crust: preheat oven to 450oF. 2. Lightly grease and flour 9x13 pan. 3. Mix together flour, sugar and salkt in a large bowl. 4. Add vanilla and cut in butter pieces until a few at a time until the mixture resembles cornmeal. 5. Press into prepared pan and bake until slightly golden, approximately 12 to 15 minutes. Set aside to cool and prepare filling. 6. For Filling: Breat cream cheese sugar and vanilla until creamy. 7. Add eggs and mix to combine. 8. Pour over cooled crust. 9. Mix together 3/4 cup sugar and cinnamon, toss apples in cinnamon mixture. 10. Place the apples atop the cream cheese mixture in two or three columns. Sprinkle with extra sugar mixture. 11. Bake until firm and golden brown approximately 20 minutes. |
