This is very very good. Tried and true and bursting with flavors. Ingredients:
1 pound tart apples |
juice of 1 lime |
4 large eggs |
1/3 cup sugar |
2 tablespoons butter melted |
1 cup heavy cream |
1 teaspoon ground ginger |
zest of 1 lime finely chopped |
3 tablespoons honey |
1/3 cup caramel sauce for topping |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350. 2. Butter a quiche pan or pie plate and place on baking sheet then set aside. 3. Peel and core apples then cut into thin slices. 4. Place apples into a bowl and add lime juice then toss together well. 5. Whisk eggs, sugar, butter and cream together until well mixed then stir in ginger and lime zest and mix well. 6. Pour thin layer of mixture into bottom of quiche pan. 7. Drain apples and layer over egg mixture then pour remaining batter over top. 8. Drizzle with honey then bake for 30 minutes. 9. Cut into slices and drizzle with caramel sauce before serving. |
