My son was going through some of his old school memorabilia and found an apple cookbook that his teacher had made with a recipe from each child's mother or grandmother. The school is Jasper Elementary School in Jasper,TN for the school year 1999-2000. Read more . This one is from my son J.D. Ingredients:
1 c. sifted flour |
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder |
1/2 tsp. salt |
1/4 tsp. apple pie spice |
1/8 tsp. cinnamon |
1/2 tsp. vanilla |
1 egg, beaten |
1/2 c. sugar |
milk |
1 1/2 c. granny smith apples, peeled cored and chopped |
Directions:
1. Mix dry ingredients and add egg, vanilla and sugar, mix well. 2. Add enough milk to make batter about as thick as pancake batter.. 3. Drop by tablespoonful into hot oil. 4. Turn fritters every couple of minutes to brown evenly. 5. Cook about 8 or 9 minutes until golden brown. |
