Another old recipe from my great- grandma. the kids have always loved these. I usually dunk them in more cinnamon sugar instead of powdered sugar. Ingredients:
2 c. flour |
1/4 c. sugar |
1 1/2 t. baking powder |
1/2 tsp salt |
1 c. milk |
2 egg |
4-5 tart apples |
1/4 c. sugar |
4 tsp cinnamon |
Directions:
1. Sift first 4 ingredients twice. 2. Add milk and well beaten eggs. Mix well. 3. Mix 1/4 C. sugar with cinnamon in bowl. 4. Pare and core apples. Cut in 1/2” rings. 5. Dip each slice in cinnamon-sugar, then in batter and fry in deep, hot fat until brown. 6. Drain on absorbent paper. 7. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. |
