Apple recipes before the apples comes on. Ingredients:
1/3 c. plain flour |
3/4 c. brown sugar, packed |
1/3 c. margarine |
5 to 6 medium size, tart apples to equal 4 c. (about 1/1/4 lbs.), peeled and sliced thin |
Directions:
1. Butter a 10 -by-6 1/2 baking dish. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. 2. Measure flour and sugar into a 2-quart mixing bowl. 3. Add margarine and with a pastry blender (or 2 knives) cut together to make a crumbly mixture. 4. Put sliced apples into prepared pan, spreading until level. 5. Sprinkle sugar mixture over top. 6. Bake for approximately 30 minutes or until top is golden brown and crunchy and apples are tender. 7. Yields: 5 servings. |
