It comes from a very old copy of a PWMU (Presbyterian Women's Missionary Union) cookbook. Crumbles are a favourite winter dessert for my family, and one I actually make, as they are so simple. Ingredients:
6 apples (i would use red delicious or granny smith) |
1/2 cup sugar |
1/4 cup water |
1/2 cup brown sugar |
1/2 cup all-purpose flour |
1/4 cup coconut |
1/4 cup rolled oats |
1/4 cup melted butter |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
Directions:
1. Peel, core and slice the apples. 2. Cook in water and sugar until soft. 3. Place in a greased pie dish, cover with the combined topping ingredients. 4. Bake in a moderate (350f) oven for 30 minutes. 5. *Otherfruits may be used. |
