With just the two of us at home these days, I hate to make a big dessert. I scaled down a favorite crisp recipe, put it in two individual serving dishes, and no more leftovers! Ingredients:
some room temperature butter to coat baking dishes |
2 large apples, peeled, cored and diced (i like to use gala apples) |
2 teaspoons fresh squeezed lemon juice |
2 tablespoons flour |
2 tablespoons white sugar |
2 tablespoons brown sugar |
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, per your taste |
couple dashes of salt |
1or 2 tablespoons butter |
fresh whipped cream |
Directions:
1. Place prepared apples in buttered individual baking dishes. 2. Mix 1 teaspoon lemon juice with the apples in each dish. 3. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, both sugars, cinnamon and salt. 4. With a fork, blend in enough melted butter until a crumbly mixture forms. 5. Top each baking dish with 1/2 of the crumb topping. 6. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. 7. Remove crisps from oven, cool for about 30 minutes, then top with whipped cream and serve warm. |
