Serve with vanilla ice cream! Ingredients:
3 lbs. tart apples |
1/2 c. brown sugar |
1/2 t. each: cinnamon and nutmeg |
1/3 c. all-purpose flour |
1/3 c. granulated sugar |
1/3 c. rolled oats |
4 t. cold butter, cut into pieces |
1/2 c. finely chopped walnuts (or pecans, hazelnuts, whatever) |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375. 2. Peel, core and slice apples. Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg, and mix well with the apples. Mix flour, sugar, and oats. Cut butter into mixture until it looks like coarse cornmeal. Mix in nuts. Butter a 13×9x2 pan generously, and add apples to the baking dish. Cover the top with the flour mixture, and bake for 30-45 minutes (depends on how thinly you sliced the apples) until the apples are tender and the topping is nice and brown. |
