This is a recipe I pulled off the internet years ago. Every time I have made it, I have gotten requests to share my recipe. It truly is the best I have ever had. You will think so too! Ingredients:
8 large granny smith apples, peeled, cored, sliced thin |
1/4 cup water |
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar |
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour |
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
2 cups old fashion quaker oats (not steel cut) |
1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed |
8 tablespoons butter, melted |
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°. 2. 9x12 baking dish : spray with nonstick spray. 3. Filling:. 4. Combine all filling ingredients in a large bowl. Stir until evenly coated. 5. Place evenly in bottom of baking dish. 6. Topping:. 7. In a medium bowl, Combine all ingredients, mix well. 8. Sprinkle evenly over apple mixture. 9. Bake 30-35 minutes or until fruit it tender. 10. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream. 11. Notes: Baking time may vary depending on how thick you slice the apples. 12. UPDATE: 10/2011 I have made this recipe numerous times and always add more apples than the original recipe calls for. It bakes down quite a bit, kinda like an apple pie does. If you are short on apples, downsize your baking dish and use an 8x8 and pile the apples high! 13. -if you add more apples, this will increase your baking time. |
