Ingredients:
1/2 cup shortening |
1 cup sugar |
2 eggs |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
2 cups all-purpose flour |
2 teaspoons baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1 (8-ounce) carton commercial sour cream |
1 1/2 cups peeled, chopped apple |

Directions:
1. Cream shortening in a medium mixing bowl; gradually add sugar, beating well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla, stirring well. 2. Combine flour, baking powder, soda, and salt in a small bowl; stir well. Add flour mixture to creamed mixture alternately with sour cream, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Stir in apple. 3. Spoon batter into a greased 13- x 9- x 3-inch baking pan; sprinkle with topping. Bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes. Cut into squares, and serve warm. |
