1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour |
1/4 cup sugar, divided |
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, divided |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
3 tablespoons chilled butter, cut into small pieces |
1 cup chopped peeled granny smith apple (about 1 apple) |
1/2 cup low-fat buttermilk (1%) |
1 large egg yolk |

cooking spray |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400°. 2. Lightly spoon flour into dry measuring cups; level with a knife. Combine flour, 3 tablespoons sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and next 3 ingredients in a large bowl.
