This recipe came from a magazine ions ago. I have made quite a few times and it is a show-stopper.. Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter |
1/3 cup sugar |
1/4 teaspoon vanilla |
1 cup flour |
8 ounces cream cheese |
1/4 cup sugar |
1 egg |
1/4 teaspoon vanilla |
1/3 cup sugar |
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon |
4 cups apples |
1/2 cup almonds |
Directions:
1. First make the crust by combining 1/2 cup butter, 1/3 cup sugar and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla. Blend in 1 cup flour. Spread dough over the bottom and halfway up the sides of a 9 springform pan. The filling is; combine the cream cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla , 1 egg. Mix and pour this over the crust. Peel and slice apples. Over the egg mixture spread with a topping of the 1/3 cup sugar, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon and the peeled and sliced apples. Sprinkle the surface with the 1/2 cup almonds. Bake 10 minutes at 400 degrees then reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees and cook for 25 minutes or more. I found I had to cook a little bit longer to get the browned top. Please let delicacy cool before removing from pan. Garnish with a dollop of whipped cream. |
