Apple Cheese Sausage Balls |

This recipe can be prepared ahead and frozen. Edited 7/04/12: I would bake on a broiling pan so the grease and juice could drain away. Ingredients:
2 lbs bulk sausage |
8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, grated |
1 egg |
15 ounces unseasoned breadcrumbs, already crumbled or 4 slices bread, toasted and crumbled in food processor |
4 small apples, cored, unpeeled, cut into bite-size pieces |
Directions:
1. Mix all ingredients in a large bowl. Using an ice cream scoop as a measure, form into 2-inch balls. 2. Place on greased baking sheet and bake at 300 degrees until done, about 30 to 45 minutes. |
