Apple Cake With Hot Sauce |

Just love that cake. Found recipe in Quick & Easy Magazine. Ingredients:
3/4 cup shortening |
1 1/2 cups sugar |
3 eggs |
2 1/2 cups sifted flour |
1 teaspoon ground cloves |
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 cup nuts (chopped) |
1 1/2 cups soft raisins |
1 1/2 cups apples (chopped) |
1 cup brown sugar |
1 cup white sugar |
1 cup water |
3/8 cup cornstarch |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1 cup butter |
1 dash salt |
Directions:
1. Cream sugar, shortening and eggs together. 2. Then combine the dry ingredients including the coffee. 3. Add raisins, nuts and apples; blend well. 4. Pour into a greased 9x13x2-inch pan. 5. Bake for 40-50 minutes at 350°. 6. Now for the Hot Sauce: Cook the sugars, water and cornstarch together until dissolved and slightly thickened. 7. Add vanilla, butter& salt and blend until butter is melted. Serve over apple cake. |
