It's apple time again, and here is a nice apple cake for those great fall apples. Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter (1stick) |
1 1/2 cups plus 2 tablespoons sugar, divided |
3 eggs |
1 tablespoon vanilla |
1 tablespoon baking powder |
3/4 teaspoon salt |
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, divided |
3 cups all-purpose flour |
3 cups peeled, diced apples (about 3) |
1 cup chopped walnuts or other nuts |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees 2. Grease and flour a 9x13 in. pan 3. Melt butter in a large saucepan 4. Remove from heat 5. Stir in brown sugar and 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar until well combined 6. Add eggs, one at a time, stirring until blended 7. Stir in vanilla 8. Combine Baking powder, salt 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon and flour 9. Add to sugar mixture, stirring until well blended 10. Stir in apples and nuts 11. Pour into baking pan 12. Stir together remaining 2 tablespoons granulated sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon; sprinkle evenly over batter 13. Bake for about 45 minutes 14. Good with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream |
