So fresh! Perfect for fall weather...Kind of a combination of 2 or 3 recipes I found digging around my mom's giant recipe collection. The topping really makes it special. Ingredients:
2 cups sugar |
1 1/2 cups oil |
3 eggs |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
3 cups self-rising flour |
3 cups chopped apples |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice |
1 cup chopped nuts (optional) |
1 cup light brown sugar |
3/4 cup butter |
1/4 cup milk |
Directions:
1. Beat together first 4 ingredients. 2. In seperate bowl mix flour and spices. 3. Gradually stir in flour mixture to egg mixture. 4. Add apples and nuts. 5. Bake at 350 degrees 50 minutes for 13 X 9 pan. 6. Topping:. 7. In small saucepan on stove, bring all 3 ingredients to boil. 8. Cook 3 minutes, Stirring frequently. 9. With end of wooden spoon punch holes in baked cake. 10. Pour hot topping over warm cake. 11. Top with chopped nuts if desired. |
