This is another recipe clipping that Mom collected. I am sure there is one here on Zaar, but I just want to put it here for safe keeping. These are all cut out of magazines and I have no idea which magazine or newspaper they came from. Some are even hand written. Ingredients:
3 cups flour |
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda |
3/4 teaspoon salt |
3/4 teaspoon nutmeg |
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon |
3/4 teaspoon ground cloves |
3/4 cup butter, melted |
1 1/4 cups sugar |
3 eggs |
1/2 cup buttermilk |
1 1/2 cups apple butter (musselman's) |
1/4 cup evaporated milk (pet ) |
2 teaspoons vanilla |
4 cups powdered sugar |
1/2 cup butter, softened |
Directions:
1. CAKE:. 2. Save the last 4 ingredients for the frosting. 3. Stir together flour, baking soda, salt, nutmeg. cloves,and cinnamon. 4. Beat butter and sugar together until fluffy. 5. Beat in eggs, one at a time. 6. Combine buttermilk and applesauce. 7. Add alternately with the flour mixture, mixing well after each addition. 8. Pour into 2 greased and floured 9 inch round cake pans. 9. Bake at 350* for 35-40 minute 10. Remove from pans. 11. Cool thoroghly on cake racks. 12. Frost cooled cake with Creamy Vanilla Frosting. 13. ***********************************************. 14. FROSTING:. 15. In a small bowl, Combine butter, milk, vanilla and sugar.(Last 4 ingredients of list). 16. Mix until frosting is smooth and shiny. 17. If Consistency is too thick. 18. Add a few drops of milk. 19. Frost cooled Applesauce Layer Cake. |
